Relocating the Dog Pen

With the self imposed deadline of moving to a better place by the 10th of January rapidly approaching, I find myself once again cursing the evils of moving.

Having been through this so many times, I like to think that I'm more prepared each time it happens, but there's always something I forget, or unexpected circumstances that make it all a disaster.

I started looking for a new place about a month ago, and discovered a few really nice apartments with openings. However, I got a new job in Beaverton, and decided to simply move back to the old stompin' grounds to make getting to and from work easier. So I start checking out apartments in Beaverton, and quickly find that either nobody likes to move in winter, or I am looking at really good places that nobody wants to move out of period, as no one seems to have a vacancy!

So here I am, little over a week left to meet my self imposed deadline. I think I found a place! Originally I was looking for a 1 bedroom there, but they had none available, but told me about this big three bedroom which was (just barely) within my price range. So I said okay, put me on your list once it's finished being cleaned up and is ready to go. Well, last week they tell me it's going to take another 3 weeks at least to finish up the unit. Bloody Hell! Buuut, guess what, they manage another property nearby, some condos. Slightly smaller unit, but sounds nice, with central AC/Heat, fireplace, European style bathrooms, blah blah. Anyways, it sounds more comfortable than an apartment, so I'm digging the idea and planned on looking at it this weekend.

Well lo and behold I come down with the plague or something similar last week. By the weekend I had lost my voice and all sorts of other issues were popping up. Sooo, now I got to try to see the unit Tuesday after work, fill out the paper work if I like the place, and try to get it all set and start getting utilities to switch over and what not in just a few days. Joy!

Then the actual moving of stuff must take place... I'm just hoping my illness is gone by then.
